Homage to CRPF Jawans - July 30, 2010

Five CRPF personnel were killed and 44 others injured seriously, when militants triggered a powerful IED blast at Bhalukbudi, Goalpara (Assam) on Friday.

The IED was placed under a staff bus carrying personnel of the CRPF's 12th battalion `E' Company to Goalpara town from their Agiya Balijana camp through dense forest at around 8 AM, District Superintendent of Police Louit Aind said.

Two Indian soldiers were killed on Tuesday evening (May 18, 2010) when heavy firing from Pakistan destroyed an army truck moving near the border in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, military sources said. Three soldiers were also injured in the firing by the Pakistanis from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Nangi Tikri area of Mendhar.

One soldier has been killed and five others wounded in a grenade explosion in Srinagar, the capital of Indian-administered Kashmir. Militants hurled a grenade at a paramilitary security patrol in the Maharajgunj area on Sunday. Despite a decline in violence in Kashmir in recent years, there are fears that militants are trying to regroup in the region. Hundreds of thousands of Indian troops are based in Kashmir to fight a two decade-old insurgency against Indian rule.
